October 14 is International E-Waste Day

Since 2018, the WEEE Forum has recognized October 14 as International E-Waste Day, in order to raise awareness of the growing problem surrounding the disposal of electronics across the globe. According to the Global E-waste Monitor, a record-setting 53.6 million metric tons of e-waste was generated in 2019, and only 17.4% of that was recycled. This means that recoverable materials such as the precious metals inside electronic devices were simply dumped rather than being recovered. Not to mention, the toxic materials that also live inside electronic devices such as lead are being unsafely thrown away, which can cause them to leach into nearby groundwater.

e-Cycle is proud to be e-Stewards Certified, which means when you recycle with us, you can rest easy knowing none of your electronic waste will ever end up in a landfill. We take pride in offering our customers peace of mind, knowing they disposed of their used mobile phones and tablets in an environmentally conscious way. Do your part this International E-Waste Day, and make sure your company’s e-waste is being properly and securely recycled.
